Former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has released a message on social media in favor of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik.
In his tweet, Shahid Afridi said, “India’s relentless efforts to silence critical voices against blatant human rights violations are futile.”
He said that fabricated allegations against Yasin Malik would not stop Kashmir’s struggle for independence.
The former cricketer appealed to the United Nations to “take note of the unjust and illegal trials against the Kashmiri leaders.”
It should be noted that the special court of India has indicted him on May 19 on charges of sedition, patriotism, obtaining funds for terrorism and involvement in terrorism in which Yasin Malik could be sentenced to life imprisonment today.
Earlier, during an online hearing on May 10, Yasin Malik had said that he had no expectation of justice in India and therefore would not pursue the case.
He had made it clear that I was fighting for the independence of Kashmir as peacefully as Gandhi, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Bhagat Singh had fought for independence.
