Permission to release ‘Lafangey’ after removing vulgar content

All the film censor boards in the country, including the Pakistan Board of Film Censors (CBFC), allowed the release of the upcoming film ‘Lafangey’ on Eid-ul-Adha after removing obscene phrases and scenes.

The Federal Film Censor Board (CBFC) last week banned the screening of ‘Lafangey’ due to its obscene language and sexual gestures.

The trailer of Sami Khan, Mani, Saleem Meraj and Mubeen Gabol’s film was released at the end of last June and it was announced that it would be released on Eid-ul-Adha.

The story of the horror comedy film revolves around 4 young people who have big dreams but do not know how to fulfill them.

The released trailer also featured some meaningful phrases, obscene dialogues and inappropriate gestures, prompting the film censor board to ban its screening.

The Central Film Censor Board had banned ‘Lafangey’ and clarified that the film team would have the right to appeal to the full board, after which the film team filed a petition with the full board for its release.

The Film Board consists of senior members of the Provincial Film Censor Board, including the Central Film Censor, who reviewed the application of the ‘Lafangey’ team and allowed its release on condition that it remove obscene phrases and inappropriate gestures from the film.

The film’s lead actor Sami Khan confirmed in his Instagram post that ‘Lafangey’ has been clear by all the film censor boards, after which the film will now be released on Eid-ul-Adha as per the announced schedule.

Another lead actor of the film, Salman Sheikh alias Mani, also confirmed the lifting of the ban on the film and said in a short video released that the dialogues and scenes were removed as per the instructions of the film censor boards and now the film is being screened on Eid.

He appealed to the people to come to the cinemas with their families on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and watch his film.

Along with ‘Lafagney’, on Eid-ul-Adha there is also release of Mehwish Hayat, Kubra Khan and Humayun Saeed’s film ‘London nahi jaon ga’ and Mahira Khan and Fahad Mustafa’s film ‘Quaid-e-Azam Zinda Bad’.
