Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reacted to the ill health of his political opponent and former military ruler Pervez Musharraf by saying that he should pray to Allah Almighty for his health if he wants to return. The government should provide facility.
In a statement released on the social networking site Twitter, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that he had no personal enmity or animosity towards Pervez Musharraf.
The PML-N leader added that he did not want anyone else to suffer the same traumas as his loved ones.
Nawaz Sharif said that I pray to Allah Almighty for his health, if he wants to come back, the government should provide facility.
It should be noted that relations between Nawaz Sharif and Pervez Musharraf deteriorated in 1999 when Nawaz Sharif was the Prime Minister and the then Army Chief Pervez Musharraf overthrew his government.
Musharraf’s family made it clear on Friday that he was not on a ventilator but had been in hospital for the past three weeks.
The family issued the statement at a time when false news of his death was circulating on social networking sites and some Pakistani and Indian publishing houses had also published it.
News of the retired general’s illness came to light in 2018 when the All Pakistan Muslim League announced that he was suffering from amyloidosis.
Amyloidosis is a serious condition that is caused by the production of a protein called amyloid in the organs and tissues of the whole body.
The formation of this protein makes it difficult for the organs and tissues to function properly.
Earlier today, Maj. Gen. Babar Iftikhar, director general of the Pakistan Army’s public relations department, had confirmed that Musharraf’s family was in touch with the army regarding his return to Pakistan.
He had said that the family of Pervez Musharraf has been contacted, the decision of return of Pervez Musharraf is to be made by his family and his doctors whether they can allow him to travel in such condition or not, if both the issues come to the fore.
If they come, then only arrangements can be made. The institution feels that if we can bring General Musharraf to Pakistan because his condition is like that.
He said that in this situation, the position of the institution and its leadership is that Pervez Musharraf should return.
On Saturday, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif also expressed support for the idea of Musharraf’s return, saying that there should be no impediment to his return.
In a statement released on the social networking site Twitter, Khawaja Asif had said that in view of General Musharraf’s ill health, there should be no obstacle for him to return home.
The Defense Minister, while praying for the health of the former Army Chief, said that may Allah give him health and enable him to spend his time with dignity in this part of his life.
