KARACHI: Accountability Court Karachi on Friday granted temporary bail to former finance minister Hafeez Sheikh in a corruption reference.
Relating to procurement and implementation of customs computerized system pilot project, ARY News reported.
The former finance minister Hafeez Sheikh seemed previously an accountability court in a corruption reference here on Friday.
The court directed Abdul Hafeez Shaikh to join the investigation and inquired him to cooperate with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in investigation.
The NAB court granted interim bail to Sheikh alongside surety bonds value Rs100,000.
The accountability also supplied notice to the NAB prosecutor.
The court suspended the additional proceedings till May 28.
The former minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh was named as one of the co-accused in the corruption reference.
Concerning to illegalities in procurement and implementation of customs computerized system pilot project and producing a loss to the national exchequer to the tune of US11.125 million.
They are also accused of irregularities in software development contract for Port Qasim and other ports.
Meanwhile, the Sindh High Court (SHC) granted pre-arrest bail to the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), preventing the police from arresting five MPAs for seven days.
These MPAs include: Khurram Sher Zaman, Firdous Shamim, Arsalan Taj, Jamal Siddiqui, and Aziz Jee.
All of them have been ordered to appear in the trial court within seven days.
Similarly, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Bilal Baig granted interim bail to PTI leaders including:
Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema and Hassan Niazi Advocate in the Lahore’s Liberty Chowk protest case till June
It is appropriate to mention here that former finance minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh reached in Karachi.
On May 18 from United States through Dubai where he was rendered extraordinary protocol at Karachi Airport.
